Chaos and Calm
In a chaotic world, creating moments of calm moves the mind from a hypervigilant state. By protecting ourselves from nervous system overwhelm, we become more empowered to take intentional actions which will have meaningful impact for our neighbors and ourselves.
This doesn’t mean to sit back and do nothing, especially where injustice is occurring. Nor does it mean ignoring reality, pushing our difficult emotions down into our guts so we can get on with our daily lives.
It means making space to embrace the whole paradox of life and being present with it. Sorrow and joy. Anger and peace. Brutality and beauty. Fear and courage.
The connecting power of “and” is a reminder that we are more resilient, more complex, more wondrous than we give ourselves credit for.
Give yourself moments of calm to embrace all of it. Then go and do good for someone else today.
