Foolishness and Wisdom from Two Old Birds

My First Friend
Strong friendships are essential to happiness and health in all stages of life, not just childhood. I am forever grateful for my first friend, Karla.

Slow Hiking for a Fast Mind (Rachel’s Version)
My first big fight with Kim was about me moving too fast.

The Power of Play
How play helped me process some big emotions about our present political predicament.

The Risk Is Worth It
Kim and I slow hiked this week through a nature preserve near Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan. It was a gorgeous hike abundant with bear corn, ghost pipe, and a variety of small fungi. One section of the hike was also abundant in poison ivy…

Slow Hiking for a Fast Mind
I used to hike as if I was in a gym, focused on getting exercise, while enjoying a view. I did get the benefits of a workout but was moving way too fast to connect with nature. To me, “connecting with nature” means that I’m using all of my senses to explore, engaging my curiosity, and taking the time to investigate what I discover…

Ego, L’eggo!
Last month as we were preparing to launch Two Birds, I found myself getting frustrated by a minor delay. It was such a familiar feeling that I didn’t even notice it at first. You know about frustration.

Hope Is Good In Action
I don't know how you're feeling, but the news has been pretty overwhelming lately. Kim and I took a moment to sit on our couch to talk about it a few days ago, and I shared a quote with her that I find helpful in times like these.
"Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree today."

Frequently Asked Questions About Life Coaching
While walking the dogs a few days ago, I ran into a neighbor who was curious about our new business. This isn't unusual. One of the things that I love about living in Muncie is that we run into people we know nearly everywhere we go.
Since we launched the business two weeks ago, almost everyone has questions about what we are doing and why. And that's pretty cool. Thank you. But for those of you who don't get the pleasure of running into us regularly, here's a summary of the questions we've been getting about life coaching.

TLDR: Kim and Rachel fell in love because of an eastern screech owl and now it’s our logo.
